"Soundscape", a pocket concert by three artists Blu Simon Wasem (Brazil), SEBASTIEN SZCZYRK (France), and Unii (Japan)

A spectacle is an image that is captured by our eyes. It could be natural, social or human. How a spectacle to be received is not only the matter of itself, but it depends verymuch on our behavior/feeling/ when we receive it.

A sound is a sensory phenomenon listining which we could receive information that is able to evoke feeling and that can re-create forgotten memories.

However, for contemporary artist working with sound and images, the relationship between these factors is not only simple in terms of building a logical and linear input for human reception. Oppositely, by playing with the illogic and unlinearity in conecting sound and image, these artists, video or VJ, question the very nature of our memory that is built from our sensory inputs, and by which, question the very nature of our present.

ZeroStation would like to introduce a pocket concert which mixes between visual and sound material and which is named by us as “soundscape”. This is a concert where audiences will have a chance to see artists to play with complicated relationship between visual and sound material, which, under the elaboration of artists, is no longer purely illustrative, but become a new and rich domain for endless creativity.

SEBASTIEN SZCZYRK

Since the beginning of his sound art work, Sheba used to records sounds from the surrounding. Since then, he always has a good sound recorder in his bag and enjoys listening and analyzing every sound around him. Across the sound performances, he had created an idea about sound traveling to the audience, to create a soundscape between the limit of realistic sound and abstract one. He would like to direct the audience into a temporal narrative experience: “a narrative poetic dreamy travel”.
