1. Mô hình của Singapore biennale 2013
Trong vòng từ ngày 26 tháng 11 năm 2013 cho tới 16 tháng 2 năm 2014, tại Singapore sẽ diễn ra một trong những triển lãm lớn nhất về nghệ thuật đương đại ở khu vực Đông Nam Á nói riêng, và châu Á nói chung, đó là triển lãm lưỡng niên Singapore 2013.
Triển lãm lưỡng niên Singapore 2013, do bảo tàng nghệ thuật quốc gia Singapore đứng ra tổ chức, là phiên bản thứ tư của Singapro Biennale. Ba phiên bản trước là: Singapore biennale 2011, với giám đốc nghệ thuật là Matthew Ngui; Singapore biennale 2008, và Singapore 2008, đều với giám đốc nghệ thuật là Funio Nanjo.
Điểm đặc biệt của Sinagpore Biennale 2013, đó là việc đây là một Singapore Biennale không có giám đốc nghệ thuật. Thay vào giám đốc nghệ thuật, qui trình tuyển lựa nghệ sĩ và tác phẩm sẽ dựa trên sự đồng giám tuyển (co-curatorship), của một nhóm giám tuyển được mời trong khu vực Đông Nam Á. Nhóm giám tuyển này lên tới 27 người, bao gồm cả Phillipine, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Việt Nam và Myanmar.
Một điểm đặc biệt nữa của Singapore Biennale 2013 nằm ngay trong ban giám tuyển được mời này. Mỗi đất nước không chỉ có 1 giám tuyển theo kiểu đại diện, mà, ví dụ như Phillipne chẳng hạn, có tới 4 giám tuyển, hay Việt Nam, có 2 giám tuyển . Điều nói lên việc gì? Câu trả lời là, cùng với sự không có giám đốc nghệ thuật một cách có chủ ý, Singapore biennale lần này dường như nhắm tới việc giải tâm, không chỉ mô hình biennale, mà cả thực hành tuyển lựa của biennale nói chung. Giờ đây, nó thậm chí tìm cách quan tâm tới thực tế phát triển của nghệ thuật đương đại ở từng vùng địa lí cụ thể, trong phạm vi một quốc gia. Ví dụ ở Việt Nam, nó đã thấy ra sự khác nhau ở các yếu tố địa văn hoá, hay địa chính trị của hai khu vực, phía Nam, và phía Bắc, tức các yếu tố quan trọng trong việc tạo nên không chỉ chất liệu mà còn diễn ngôn cho nghệ thuật đương đại. Chính vì thế, thay vì 1 giám tuyển, nó đã đưa vào không gian giám tuyển của Biennale 2 giám tuyển từ hai vùng địa lí Nam, và Bắc.
Vì lẽ này, không còn là một “cỗ máy” đặt cơ sở trên việc sản xuất ra một diễn ngôn duy nhất, dưới quan niệm của một giám đốc nghệ thuật duy nhất, Singapore biennale 2013 dường nhắm tới việc trở nên cơ hội tốt để có thể giới thiệu các giong điệu đa dạng và khác biệt trong khu vực. KHông chỉ bản thân hành vi giám tuyển đã được giải tâm, buộc phải đối thoại với các góc nhìn tuyển lựa khác nhau trong ban giám tuyển, mà chính các nghệ sĩ được tuyển lựa cũng không còn là một mô hình theo kiểu “ đại diện quốc gia”, mà nay trở nên một giọng điệu độc lập, đối thoại với các giọng điệu khác, trong một diễn ngôn mở rộng ra khỏi biên giới, hay bản sắc quốc gia.
2. Chủ đề của Singapore biennale 2013
Singapore Biennale 2013 có chủ đề là "Nếu thế giới thay đổi”, với bản mô tả chủ đề như sau (tạm dịch)
Văn hoá và địa lí phong nhiêu của khu vực Đông Nam Á từng là con đường/hành lang cho các nền văn minh lớn của thế giới. Những đợt triều dâng lên và rút đi của những sự tương tác văn hoá phức tạp đã là nguyên nhân của những sự kháng cự và tiếp thu, và lưu lại nơi đây những các trầm tích và các lớp di sản khác nhau trong vô số cộng đồng đa dạng.
Trong thế kỉ 21, tốc độ chuyển mình của khu vực Đông Nam Á có lẽ vượt xa sự hình dung của bất kì thế hệ nào trước đó. Sự thay đổi này đem tới các quan niệm và cách hiểu khác nhau và khác trước về thời gian cũng như về chính thế giới bên trong và bên ngoài của chúng ta.
Đối mặt với quá khứ và những thay đổi trong hiện tại, các nghệ sĩ đã phản ánh, suy tư, mường tượng, và đưa ra các quan điểm của mình. “Nếu thế giới thay đổi”, tên của Singapore biennale lần thứ 4, chính là một lời mời các nghệ sĩ hồi phản và tái suy xét về các thế giới mà chúng ta đang sống, cũng như, về các thế giới mà chúng ta mong được sống ở đó
Nếu thế giới thay đổi? Đâu là cơ hội và đâu là thách thức của chúng ta?

Trong vai trò là một đồng giám tuyển của Singapore Biennale, giám đốc nghệ thuật Ga 0, Nguyễn Như Huy, sẽ tổ chức một buổi trao đổi tại Ga 0 với hai mục đích:
1- Giới thiệu tóm tắt về Singapore Biennale 2013, và về mô hình Biennale nói chung.

1. The model of Singapore biennale 2013
Within 4 months, from 26th November 2013 to 16 February 2014, In Singapore, one of the biggest contemporary art exhibitions, particular in Southeast Asia, and general in Asia and the world will take place, which is Sinagpore Biennale 2013.
Singapore Biennale 2013, organized by Singapore Art Museum, is 4th edition of Singapore Biennale. Three previous edition were Sinagpore Biennale 2011, with its artistic director was Matthew Ngui; Singapore Biennale 2008, and 2006 with its artistic director were Fumio Nanjo.
One of special point of Singapore Biennale 2013 is that this is edition which has not artistic director. Instead of an artistic director, the procedure of curating will base upon the co-curatorship by a group of invited curators from Southeast Asia. This group includes 27 persons, from Singapore, Phillipine, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar.
Another special point of Singapore biennale 2013 locates at its very grouping of invited curators. Each country will be represented not by only a single curator. For example Phillipine has 4 curators, or Vietnam has two curators. (1). What does this tell us? The answer is, besides having not artistic director intentionally, Singapore Biennale 2013 seems to aim to decentering, not only the traditional model of biennale exhibition basing on nationality, but its traditional curating practice. Now it even tries to consider to the reality of the development of contemporary art in a certain geographical area within a nation. For example, in Vietnam, it seems begin to see the differences in geo-political or geo-cultural factors of two area, South and North, which are very important in forming not only material, but discourses for contemporary art. Because of that, instead of only one curator, it involves in its curatorial space two curators from South and North of Vietnam.
By this reason, no longer a “machine” whose function is to produce a single discourse under a single conception of a single artistic director, Singapore biennale 2013 seems to target to be an opportunity for different and multiple voices in the region are introduced. Not only the very curating practice is decentered, and now must become the dialogues within different point of views in curatorial team, the selected artist is also no longer the “representative” of a nation, but must become an independent voice opening the dialogue with other voices in a discourse which lies beyond national border or identity.
2. The theme of Singapore biennale 2013
The main theme of Singapore biennale 2013 is “ If the world changes”, with its description as below:
The rich cultures and geographies of the Southeast Asian region have historically been the corridor of the world's major civilisations. The ebb and flow of these complex cultural interactions have yielded responses of accommodation and resistance, leaving legacies of layering and sedimentation within the varied communities.
In the 21st century, the speed of transformation in Southeast Asia is perhaps beyond anything experienced by preceding generations. This change is prompting multiple conceptions and perceptions of time and our worlds, both the external and internal.
Against this backdrop of past and continuous change, artists have been reflecting, mediating, envisioning, and making propositions. If The World Changed, the title of the 4th Singapore Biennale, is an invitation to artists to respond to and reconsider the worlds we live in, and the worlds we want to live in.

3. The meeting at ZeroStation between co-curator of Singapore biennale 2013, Nguyen Nhu Huy, and artists and audience at ZeroStation
A co-curatorof Singapore biennale 2013, ZeroStation’s artistic director Nguyen Nhu Huy will hold a discussion at ZeroStation. This discussion has two purposes.
1- To introduce briefly on Singapore biennale 2013, and on biennale exhibition model in general
2- To introduce the curating model of Singapore biennale 2013, its tentative venues, as well as to open a Q/A session regarding to the application to Singapore biennale 2013 of artists who would like to participate in it.
